Migration Council Australia today announced the appointment of two new members to its Board, ACTU President Ged Kearney and CEO of Newcrest Mining Greg Robinson, both of whom bring considerable experience in their fields to MCA’s work.
MCA Board Chair Peter Scanlon said he looked forward to working with them to enhance the productive benefits of Australia’s migration and humanitarian programs.
“The MCA builds partnerships between corporate Australia and the community to promote best practice in migration and settlement support and the addition of Ged Kearney and Greg Robinson to the Board is a great step in that direction,” Mr Scanlon said.
Ms Kearney has been President of the ACTU since July 2010 and was elected Federal Secretary of the Australian Nursing Federation in 2008. She is also a Director of CBUS Super Fund.
Mr Robinson was appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Newcrest in July 2011. Prior to joining Newcrest, he was with the BHP Billiton Group in various executive roles and the Director of Investment Banking at Merrill Lynch & Co.
Leaving the board is Ahmed Fahour, Managing Director and CEO of Australia Post.
“I thank Ahmed Fahour for his contribution and his support for the establishment of the MCA,” Mr Scanlon said.
